Custom & Specialty Finishes
Standard gloss black does its job. But a custom finish is what makes people stop and look at a build — and powder has come a long way past flat colors. Translucent candies laid over a bright metallic base, prismatics that shift color with the light, chrome-look finishes, deep wrinkle textures and clears that add depth over the top of everything.
Most of these are multi-stage finishes: a base coat goes on and gets cured, then the candy or clear goes over it and cures again. Each pass adds time and cost, and each one has to be right — which is why they're worth doing in a shop that does this work regularly rather than experimenting on your parts.
We'll talk it through with you before anything gets sprayed. Bring a photo, a color chip, a wheel you liked at a show, or just a rough idea of the look. Half of this job is helping you land on the right combination for the part and the build it's going on.

We can get close on most colors — bring a chip, a factory paint code, or the part you're matching to. Powder is a different material than paint, so an exact match isn't always possible, and we'll tell you up front if what you want isn't achievable rather than surprising you at pickup.
Very, once they're clear-coated — and we recommend clear on candies and chrome-look for exactly that reason. Translucent and high-reflectivity layers benefit from that protective top coat for UV and abrasion resistance, particularly on parts that live outdoors.
Yes. Two-tone work is done by coating and curing the first color, masking off the areas that keep it, then coating the second color over the top. It's labor-intensive but it's how you get split frames, contrasting wheel lips and coated accents.
Gloss and satin black stay the most requested, with bronze, gunmetal and satin grey close behind. Candy reds and blues on a bright base get the most attention at shows. See our wheel powder coating page for more on what holds up on the road.
